Happy Independence Day
As those of us in the Midwest retreat to air-conditioned spaces, we can all take a moment to remember all of those who have fought and died for our freedoms; women and men like James Madison, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Harriet Tubman, Henry David Thoreau, John Brown, Jane Addams, John Steinbeck, Medgar Evers, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr., Ammon Hennesy, Rachel Carson, Ted Kennedy and my personal hero, Utah Phillips. And so many more who fought for equality and justice. And also to the troops who serve, even if their assignment is unjust; they serve because they swore to do so, and the folly of our wars is not due to their faithful and diligent service.
And private sector: hire veterans. http://www.hireveterans.com/
Happy Fourth!
