Breaking Bad clip of the day, July 01

*Spoiler alert: as always, do not read or watch unless you have seen this before or don’t mind spoilers. You have been warned*

*As always, all footage is the property of AMC, and has been embedded from media in the public domain; should that change or should AMC send me a written request to remove said footage, said footage would be removed immediately.*

*This particular clip is graphic, NSFW, and likely demanding parental approval for anyone under 18*

I realized belatedly that even if I do post these daily, that only means 14 more (after today’s) before the season premiere; and if you can’t think of 14 utterly epic moments of this show, you haven’t seen it. So, as much as I want to highlight the hidden gems (in my view) and overlooked gems (in my view) moments from Breaking Bad (and I may just continue this past the season five premiere, but we shall see), we need to get the really epic stuff on the table. Those clips that surpassed even the “holy shit” moment (as many of you know, how I like to describe cross-media moments where you read, listen to, see, or watch someone else’s work and become capable of only mouthing “holy shit” because it’s that’s good.”

I love reading top-10 lists. I’ve never made one myself, but I guess you can think of this and what will follow of my countdown of Breaking Bad’s first four seasons’ best moments as my first stab at it. In any case, here’s today’s to start the list. An underrated and overlooked, but still crazy moment in the series. So let’s rewind to season two, episode six “Peekaboo” to see this shit unwind:

Truly one of the more horrifying clips in the entire series. The desperation of addiction, the ultra-violence, Jesse’s horror at what he’s brought about and his desperate yet touching care for the child: all signature Breaking Bad moves, brought to “omfg that did just happen” perfection in this clip. One of the best in the series and one that influences season two for a few more episodes, plot-wise.

Tomorrow: How dangerous is it to look up in perfect silence at the stars?
